AiB Team - Robert Todd and Theri Andino Hand Analysis

North opens 1 and East passes. South starts with 1, and when West passes, North rebids 1NT with the balanced hand. South now has no real interest in whether North has 2 or 3 , but plenty of interest in whether North has 4-card , so he bids New Minor Forcing to try to find out (and to make subsequent bids forcing - although bidding 2 over 1NT should also work as a forcing bid in a pinch.) North shows the 3-card (and a minimum hand, if that's the agreement) with 2, but now South can bid 2 to force. North does like and raises to 3, so then it will be a matter of cuebidding back and forth, and maybe eventual Keycarding, where they find out they have all the Keycards but not the Q, and so maybe 6 is a good contract. It's also entirely possible that someone gets cold feet earlier in the auction and they just play game. (But it's mostly important to have discussions with your partner about new minor forcing for hands like this, so you know what's forcing and what isn't - there can certainly be variations! Of course 2-way New Minor Forcing clears this up even faster.)
The K is in the wrong place but the QJ fall doubleton, so all is well.

AiB Team - Robert Todd and Theri Andino Hand Analysis

East passes, South passes, and West opens 1 (it's a good hand, but does have a lot of losers!), so North overcalls either 1 or 2, depending a bit on style. East passes anything, and South bids 2 in either case (raising or taking a preference). West tries 3, North passes, and it's up to South to continue to compete, but since he has these defensive , he probably lets it go.
That's a little unfortunate as it turns out that NS have a large number of tricks available to them, but here they should be able to nip West a trick. With so few trips to dummy, declarer could lose 2, 2, and 2, but he should be able to take at least one finesse and save a loser there. Still not making, but as it happens, a good "sacrifice"!

South opens 1NT and West might let it go or might bid his minors. In either case, North transfers to (or bids them if needed), East passes, and South has to decide how highly to value his hand - it's not technically a pure superaccept, but it's not far off. Today, though, even if South doesn't superaccept, North invites and South accepts and all is well in 4.
Declarer will lose those top 2 and then a or a , depending on how the defense attacks and what declarer can pitch on the eventually good .

West passes and North opens 1, which East also passes. South has no response, so it's up to West to balance in, but he may very well not and we might just have North floundering a bit in 1.
North isn't totally destitute, but this probably won't quite work out. He loses 3, 1, 1, and 2 unless the defense helps out.

North passes, East passes, and South opens 1NT. West overcalls with and (maybe?), so North possibly just doubles to show the invitational hand, and South has no real argument with that, so we might be playing either 2X or 2X, West. Neither one works well, but probably not as bad as NS finding their vulnerable game, if they could indeed find it.

East passes and South opens 1NT. West overcalls either with just or with and , but North this time pushes on to game, showing stoppers in either or as needed from the auction (along with the ), and they find their way to 3NT.
This will take a little bit of careful work, but bidding from West will help with things like finding the Q. Declarer has 3, 3, 2, and then either 1 on really good diagnosing of the Ax in West or another because West leads a small .

South passes, West passes, and North opens 1NT. East bids his and , and so South doubles to show the invitational hand. It would be interesting to see if North sticks to his guns and passes that or panics and bids 3 (which probably gets them to 3NT.)
But let's say NS get to defend 2X (as West would have corrected if East showed two suits). Declarer loses a bunch of tricks - at least 1, 1, and 3, but then also probably loses control if the defense starts off tapping him in right away.

West passes, North passes, East opens 1, and South doubles with the hand that has 2NT values. North picks 2, and now South bids 2NT. North isn't super excited about it, but he does have 5 points, so he goes to 3NT.
It works out extremely well to have this fit that comes in for 5 tricks! Declarer gets 1, 5, and 3 if the defense doesn't lead - if they do, he'll likely come to 1 or 2 more tricks!
