AiB Team - Robert Todd and Theri Andino Hand Analysis

North opens 1 (maybe 1 if they feel hung up on suit quality), and East overcalls 2 . South then can bid 3 , game forcing, and so North's most reasonable rebid is 3NT. South has a little bit of extra values but not really so much as to think this should go any higher, so that's that.
It happens that there are 12 possible tricks here, but it's not necessarily intuitive (or good bridge) to get to them - playing in 3NT is plenty. Declarer could get 3 , 1 , 5 , and 2 pretty straight-forwardly (although with a bit of a backwards finesse, but that will be the safe way to finesse the suit, so easier to find), and then also squeeze West in the black suits for one more trick - but it seems more likely that most declarers will get just the 11 tricks.

AiB Team - Robert Todd and Theri Andino Hand Analysis

East passes and South has a really nice hand, but with two suits and so few , it seems pretty safe to open 1 (of course South could open 2 , but that could make this auction really difficult.) West passes and North starts with a (semi-)forcing 1NT. Now South can jump shift to 3 , but North will probably think that's a jump shift of convenience and not necessarily a real suit - but still a 3-card suit, and that means North has an excellent fit for partner and should not settle for just 3NT. If 4 is minorwood, that's perfect now - but even if it's just a forward-going bid, that works too. South can show all the Keycards in response to minorwood, or probably just bid 6 directly. (North will go ahead with the 6 bid over a minorwood answer as well.) If South had opened 2 , we'd have something like 2 - 2 - 2 - 3 , and then back into minorwood/Keycard, same ending in 6 .
It happens that the can be set up for pitching the losing , and that means that declarer has no losers at all!

South opens 1 and West probably passes at this vulnerability (but some may overcall 1 .) North bids 1 , East also passes (again, particularly at this vulnerability, 2-level overcalls should be real opening hands), and so South can jump to 3 to try to encapsulate this hand's playing strength. North then has to decide how much he likes this hand - it is a minimum response, yes, but with the extra trump, he might go for it. (Form of scoring may very well factor into this decision as well!) With an overcall, this goes more like 1 - 1 - X - 2 (maybe 2 ) - 2/3 - and possibly all pass?
If North does go for the game, he'll be very pleased. He only has to lose 1 and 1 , and then the set up easily to help with the other losing .

AiB Team - Robert Todd and Theri Andino Hand Analysis

West and North pass, but East has what looks like a really nice hand, and he opens 1 . South actually has a much nicer hand, so he starts with a double. West passes, and now it's very important that North take a bid - even with these 5 little and partner having an amazing hand, notice how hard it is to punish a suit at the 1-level - but he should be careful about bidding NT, as South will take that as a real hand (usually about 8-11 points). So North bids the best he can squeeze out with either 2 or 2 . Over 2 , South can bid 3 as a Western cuebid , and now North can bid 3NT; over 2 , South can either bid 4 or 2 (maybe 3 again), and then get to 3NT or 4 as a final contract. South does have to be careful not to just double and bid 2 - his hand is too good for that, and North will pass as soon as he can! Of course, East is also still bidding here and might take up those valuable 3 bids that South needs to ask for stoppers - so final contracts here could be all over the place.
Let's say North gets to declare 3NT. It seems pretty likely that East would just lead a big , and then when he sees the dummy, he should recognize that it's time to just cash the other big because that's all he's getting. If he does something silly like leading a small , declarer can get 12 tricks with 1 , 4 , 6 , and 1 .

AiB Team - Robert Todd and Theri Andino Hand Analysis

North's hand has the right shape to open, so 1 it is, and then East passes (probably). South bids 1NT, and that actually steals West's bid, so he either just passes for now or doubles to try to get partner in on the decision. North in either case corrects back to 2 (South is almost certainly marked with at least 2-card , so this has to be better than 1NT when the opponents are known to have at least 9 .) But now, whether West doubled or not (maybe a little more if he did), East can come in with 2 . No one else wants to argue with that, and even if they did (maybe South bids 3 ), EW could bid up to 3 , so here we are.
Against , South has sort of a nasty lead, but since partner has shown real , that A seems like a good idea. North encourages and then switches to the K and A (even if South discourages), and that's the end of their tricks unless declarer decides to just play the from the top and not take the finesse (although the bidding should probably point to the not being 2-2.)

East may or may not preempt this hand - looks like it depends a bit on partnership expectations of a red v. white preempt in the first seat - and with such an anemic suit, let's say he just passes. South passes, West passes, and so North gets to open 2NT. South can't go anywhere with that, and passes.
Now if East has the guts to lead his suit, he'll find partner with the magical Ax, which means the defense can take the first 7 tricks with 6 and 1 (which West will have plenty of time to signal for.)

South passes and West opens 1 . North doubles now while the auction is low, and East bids 1 . South bids 2 , and when that comes around to East, he competes with 2 . North takes that back to 3 , and now we probably stop bidding.
This doesn't quite work, but EW were making several contracts, so it should be fine. Declarer loses 1 (because West is on lead), 1 , 1 , and 2 .

West passes and North opens 1 . East passes, so South starts with 1 (being too good to just jump to 3NT, although that's probably where he thinks this is going.) North rebids 1NT (showing the balanced hand), and so South likely now does go for 3NT since North has limited his hand.
This is fine in NT - East could lead a and make this a little scarier on declarer, but he still has 4 , 2 (or even 3 if that's what East leads), and 5 tricks (and a stopper.)
